A vacancy exists for a curator in the Modern Literary Manuscripts section
of the Department of Western Manuscripts at the British Library.
Your principal task will be to apply expert specialist skills to sort,
arrange and create online catalogue records for modern literary
manuscripts from 1603 onwards. You will also answer specialist reference
enquiries, advise on potential acquisitions and contribute to the
promotion of the collection.
You must have a good honours degree or its equivalent in a relevant field,
and an excellent knowledge of English literature, especially of the period
1603 onwards. You will have experience of cataloguing modern literary
manuscript material in a major scholarly library or equivalent. You must
be able to work with attention to detail and to strict deadlines. You must
also be able to work independently and as part of a team, liaising
effectively with colleagues both within the department and with other
departments in the Library.
