Sheffield Libraries Conservation Unit is made up of a team of five,
conservators/preservation assistants.
The Conservation Unit is a busy service serving Sheffield
Archives, Sheffield Libraries Archives and
Information Service,
as well as providing a service to the joint South Yorkshire
service and to other district archives services at
Barnsley, Doncaster and Rotherham.
Work is also undertaken on behalf of private customers. As
well as undertaking preservation and
conservation work tasks on a wide variety of archives
and library materials, together with environmental control,
there is an opportunity to supervise staff, to
work on specific projects and to be involved in an
active outreach programme.
We are looking for an enthusiastic person, who is motivated, flexible, can
work under pressure and keep to
deadlines, have team skills and a positive outlook.
Candidates should possess the Society of Archivists'
certificate or equivalent qualification or be a
graduate from the HLF internship programme.
This temporary maternity cover post would suit an
archive/library conservator who wishes to develop
their Continuing Professional Development and work
experience.
Sheffield City Council was recently awarded 4 stars for the third year
running in the latest Comprehensive Performance
Assessment.
Sheffield is a vibrant city in which to live - the night life is second to
none and the Peak District National Park is
only minutes away.
The successful candidate will be required to complete a criminal records
disclosure form in line with Section 115
of The Police Act 1997.
