Leeds/Bradford: Wednesday 18 April, 3.30pm-5pm, Leeds University
Analysis of Change and Repeated Errors Across Statistical Disciplines
Yu-Kang Tu (University of Leeds).
How to analyse change from baseline is the most common question in medical and epidemiological
research. However, this seemingly simple question has been a trap which many clinicians and
statisticians. This presentation aims to show that a one-hundred year old statistical paradox,
regression to the mean, has been more often talked about than understood. The examples of
misunderstanding can be found in medical statistics, epidemiology, psychology and economics.
The meeting will be held at Leeds University’s Worsley Building on Level 8, Room S, starting at 4pm
with refreshments from 3.30pm.
