The University of Oxford Department of Education, which offers one of the most
highly acclaimed PGCE programmes in the UK, seeks applications for a new and
exciting scheme designed to enable thoughtful and successful secondary school
teachers to become university based teacher educators. The scheme will run from
September 1st 2007.
The Fellowships, which will be funded for five years, will include a structured
programme of induction and professional development as a teacher educator plus
research training on a topic relevant to each Fellow’s subject specialism. This will
normally involve undertaking a DPhil in Education. Fees for the DPhil will be covered
by the Teacher Education Research Fellowship scheme. Candidates already holding a
doctorate may also be considered for a Fellowship.
Candidates must have a good first degree, at least three years successful experience
as a secondary school teacher in an appropriate subject and be committed to
developing a career as a research-based teacher educator.
The closing date for receipt of applications is Friday, March 16th 2007.
