The University seeks to appoint a Lecturer in Physical Chemistry for 4
years from 1 September 2007. The new Lecturer will be expected to
develop an internationally recognised research activity in experimental
or theoretical physical chemistry and will engage in a full range of
teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels.
The Department of Chemistry is highly rated both in research (5*A in RAE
2001) and teaching (“excellent” in the most recent Teaching Quality
Assessment). We pride ourselves on the cooperation and collaboration
between different research groups and different disciplines. Particular
research strengths in physical chemistry and chemical physics include
molecular beam studies of chemical dynamics; laser spectroscopy;
ultrafast dynamics; plasma and surface chemistry; colloids and
interfaces; solid-state NMR; and theoretical and computational
chemistry, including intermolecular forces, molecular quantum dynamics,
cold molecules, materials simulation, and density-functional theory.
