Hi Sarah and Valerie
This raises an interesting question as to what makes 'the difference'
between 'masculinities and political science/politics and
'masculinities/gender/IR'!
There is - of course - Connell's work - but does that count as
Sociology?
There's also Judith Kegan-Gardiner's - Masculinity Studies and Feminist
Theory - (2001) - covers a broad (inter)disciplinary range ...
And we (myself and Jane Parpart) are putting together Man Question 2!!
(sorry for self publicising!)
Cheers
Marysia

Dear Valerie and Sarah,
I would start with:
1. the Manchester conference organised on this very subject in May 2005,
organised by Juanita Ellis, now in Oz I think. I was there and could
find more info if you are stuck.
2. the Handbook of Studies on Men and Masculiniities, edited by Kimmel,
me and Connell, Sage , 2005 - there's a lot of relevant stuff in there +
bibliographies etc
There is also of course the work of Enloe, the Zalewski and Palpart IR
collection, and Carver's fairly recent book on pol theory.
Then there is a lot/huge amount on relevant international and political
issues from other disciplines - it depends on broadly one is trawling -
as Sarah to contact me if she is interested.
I could think of more, best wishes, Jeff

Does anybody know of any research that is exploring masculinities and
political science/politics, rather than masculinities/gender/IR? please
email me [log in to unmask] and I'll collate and email anyone
who wishes to receive this information
Not confident there is a lot out there, though
thanks
Sarah
