CILIP, Multimedia Information  and Technology Group, Scotland (MmITS)
5th Annual General Meeting & post-AGM seminar on privatisation of public
information and accessing information in the electronic library

The CILIP Multimedia Information and Technology Group, Scotland invites
members to attend the 5th Annual General Meeting to be held at Edinburgh
College of Art on Tuesday 27th March 2007 at 2.30pm.  Please note:  Full
details of the location/meeting room venue within the ECA will be mailed
out to attendees nearer the date of the event.

At the meeting the Chair will be seeking nominations from those members
interested in becoming involved in the work of the Committee.    Also,
there is a currently a vacancy for MmITS Treasurer, as the current
postholder would like to stand down.  Please contact the MmITS

a nomination form will be sent to you.

Please note:  Non-members are welcome to attend the AGM but are not
eligible to vote.

Post-AGM seminar:

The AGM will be immediately followed by a seminar, with a keynote
presentation, on the "privatisation of public information"  by Alan
Poulter, Lecturer, at the University of Strathclyde, Department of
Computer and Information Sciences.  Alan's research interests are
currently in 
Web 2.0 applications in public libraries, ICT skills for senior
citizens, ethical codes, and effective search strategies for the
internet.

Brian Osborne, formerly Chief Librarian in Midlothian and Strathkelvin
public libraries, and now a freelance consultant and writer on
information-related and biographical topics,  will then speak on
"accessing information in the electronic library".   

It may also be possible to arrange optional tours of the ECA Library
prior to the AGM so if you are interested please indicate this on the
enclosed booking form.
