Ask student "How many fits do you want him to have over the weekend?"
Sorry - this sounds rude - did he pass exam?
Interactions between paracetamol and carbamazepine are? (sorry It's been a
while since I did pharmacy.)

Subject: Saturday Morning
I was working with my (still) unregistered doctor and a third year
pharmacy student.
The student had just completed his clinical pharmacy exams - so it
having been a long
time since I was a student asked him what they where about.
The example he gave was a setting in which he was presented with a drug
chart showing
carbimazole and a patient complaining of a sore throat.
"OK" - I said "that's in an exam, but what happens here on a Saturday
morning. So far your
response to the patient with a sore throat has been "Have you tried
Strepsils?"
Assuming that you'd asked some questions and discovered that the patient
was taking
carbimazole what would your advice have been?"
"To stop taking the carbimazole and see a GP Monday morning." answered
the student.
My doctor disagreed.
So over to you for your opinions please.
TIA
Jeff
