Subject: German literature examiner required for the International
Baccalaureate Organization
Dear colleagues
The International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) is currently seeking an
experienced individual to take on the role of examiner responsible for their
German A1 literature course.
The International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) is a recognized leader in
the field of international education, encouraging students to be active
learners, well-rounded individuals and engaged world citizens. Founded in
1968, we currently work with over 1,900 schools in 124 countries to develop
and offer three challenging programmes to more than 488,000 students aged 3
to 19. You may wish to visit our website at www.ibo.org for some more
information about our organization and programmes.
One of the characteristics of the IBO's programme for 16-18 year olds is
that students are required to study a literature (A1) course, as one of six
subjects that constitute the diploma. The A1 course is studied in the first
language ('mother tongue') of the student and involves the study of both the
literature of the student's native language, and works of world literature
studied in translation.
The duties of the post of examiner responsible include the setting and
marking of examinations and may involve occasional (paid) travel to the IB
curriculum and assessment centre in Cardiff. Please note that this post does
not involve relocation to an IB office; the duties of this post are normally
carried out alongside other professional and academic commitments.
Professionals of the following background are invited to apply:
* Native speakers of German
* Degree in German literature
* Teaching experience
* Examining experience (desirable but not essential).
We would be very keen to hear from all individuals with the above
experience. The post of examiner responsible for German A1 is remunerated at
the rate of US$ 475 per year, plus marking and paper setting fees. In
addition to this, the IBO covers all reasonable expenses and administration
costs. Working for the IBO is a commitment to a mission led organization
that has high status precisely for that reason.
If you think you would be interested in the taking on this position, please
contact me by e-mail ([log in to unmask]) so that more detailed
information, plus an application form, can be sent to you. Please also feel
free to pass this message on to anyone else who may be interested.
Thank you very much for reading this message and giving consideration to it.
