Dear Mike,
Terrifyingly we use a mixture of all of a, b, c, and d depending on the
context. We use b & c in QA documents, but we use a for student
handbooks, the course catalogue, etc, and we use d in various
regulations.
Best wishes,

Subject: How do you describe Levels of Undergraduate Modules/Stages?
English Institutions Only
I wonder if you would mind taking part in a quick survey ...
How do you currently describe internally, eg in your academic
regulations
and module/course handbooks or as an internal code on your student
records
system etc, the Levels of undergraduate modules (and course stages
corresponding to years 1, 2 and 3 for a standard full time students).
There are four possible answers (that I know of!):
a) Levels 1, 2 and 3 [traditional practice]
b) Level C, I and H [the new Framework for HE Quals - becoming
increasingly used]
c) Levels 4, 5 and 6 [the National Qualification Framework linked to FE
quals, probably not used outside FE colleges]
d) some other system eg Stage 1 for Level 1, Stage 2 for Levels 2 and 3
...
If you could e-mail back to me [not the list] your answer
a) b) c) or d) .... and the name of your institution
that would be most helpful. If you are using a) and intending to shift
to
b) perhaps you could also indicate when you might shift.
If I get more than 10 responses, I'll summarise the results to the list
in
case anyone else wants to know.
Best wishes
