Hi, I've got a question about reporting results of studies, and when (and
if) it is ok to report results at the P < 0.001 threshold.
Obviously I know that reporting results at P < 0.05 FWE is preferable, but a
lot of studies report results that do not survive this threshold. Does it
all depend on whether one has a prior hypothesis of the activation they
expect to find in a region. Or are there other reasons when it is acceptable
to report results at this threshold?
I'm not sure if this question has been answered lots of time before in the
archives, and so apologies for the dumb question, but upon reading the
literature of imaging studies I'm confused as a lot of studies differ in the
threshold they report their results at.
I was wondering if someone could refer me to somewhere that answers this
question, so I can sleep easy at night knowing when the results of studies
are reliable.
kind regards
Nicholas Walsh
