The UCL Department of Geomatic Engineering is looking to appoint a
Knowledge Transfer Partnership Associate. In partnership with Dr Foster
Intelligence, a company that specialises in the analysis of healthcare
statistics, you will develop and implement a method to organise, analyse
and visualise the core statistics that are being used in the management of
Hospital Episodes Statistics (HES) data within the NHS. This is a two years
fixed-term project.
This is a unique opportunity to be involved in the development of data
mining and visualisation method of tens of millions of records on a regular
basis, using established Geographical Analysis methods and distribute them
to a wide range of users
You will work in collaboration with Dr Foster Intelligence, a new public-
private partnership that aims to improve the quality and efficiency of
health and social care through better use of information (healthcare
informatics). It is now the market-leading provider of research, analysis
and communication products to NHS organisations. Dr Foster data analysis
products are now used by more than half of all NHS Trusts to track key
patient outcome indicators. In addition, Dr Foster publishes comparative
information on standards and services to GPs and the general public.
Applicants should have a good honours degree (Minimum 2:1) and/or post
graduate or a PhD in a Social Science discipline such as Geography,
Sociology, Psychology or Physical science such as Computer Science or
Physics or Mathematics. You will have a solid background in quantitative
analysis and knowledge of spatial analysis techniques. You should have
programming skills at a high level with special emphasis on databases and
Internet technologies. In addition, you need strong communication and
interpersonal skills.
