See the "Parking Costs" chapter of our report
"Transportation Cost And Benefit Analysis" (http://www.vtpi.org/tca ), and the
"Parking Costs, Pricing and Revenue Calculator"
spreadsheet at http://www.vtpi.org/parking.xls .
Of course, actual costs vary significantly
depending on land values, construction costs and
site requirements, but annualized costs of £300
to £3000 is probably a reasonable range. For
example, underground parking, which is
increasingly required in urban areas, typically
costs $25,000 to $50,000 for construction (about
£13,000 to £25,000), so just these construction
costs equal about £1,250 to £2,500, plus maintenance and operations costs.
If you are interested in strategies for reducing
these costs see my report "Parking Management:
Strategies, Evaluation and Planning"
(http://www.vtpi.org/park_man.pdf ) or my book
"Parking Management Best Practices"
). Our Online TDM Encyclopedia
(http://www.vtpi.org/tdm ) also contains
information on various ways of reducing parking costs.
