In 2000 I prepared a draft protocol for assessing greenhouse and
other emissions from cars for the New South Wales Government. This
included tables for calculating "environmental damage". This
eventually formed the basis for the national Green Car Guide: http://
www.greenvehicleguide.gov.au/
The methods are based on "Rating the Environment Impacts of Motor
Vehicles: The Green Guide to Cars and Trucks Methodology". American
Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy, Washington, 1999.
I have put a copy of the draft protocol at http://snipurl.com/1aszv-
EH10I
Table 1 on Page 8 has emissions for petrol, diesel and LPG. In
Australia, at that time, 1 litre of diesel produced 2690 grams of
CO2. Note that methane and N2O emissions should also be considered
since they have high greenhouse factors (Table 3) compared with CO2.
Page 13 has reference sources. I also have the project report if it
is of interest.
