Within the framework of the German Excellence Initiative the Cluster of Excellence
"Munich-Centre for Advanced Photonics (MAP)"
has been established at the Ludwig Maximilians Universität München (LMU) in cooperation
with the Technische Universität München (TUM). The purpose of the new centre is to create
an unparalleled infrastructure in the field of Photonics in order to pursue a number of goals
with far-reaching impacts on science, technology and medicine, for details please visit
http://www.munich-photonics.de/.
As an important part of the Centre´s interdisciplinary training programme and career
development plan for junior researchers, MAP is going to establish a number of independent
junior research groups each supervised by a young scientist. Possible research areas are
listed below, more details can be found in
http://www.map.uni-muenchen.de/posts-JRG.en.html.
Interested young scientists with outstanding experience in one of these fields of research are
invited to submit informative documents on their academic career, a list of publications and
invited lectures to the speaker of the Excellence Cluster:
Prof. Dr. Ferenc Krausz
Max-Planck-Institut für Quantenoptik

- Development of ion and photon sources for biological/medical applications (LMU/MPQ)
- Fundamental physics / theory (LMU/TUM)
- Electron dynamics and strong field matter interactions / theory (LMU)
- Dynamical processes in molecules and at interfaces / theory (TUM)
- Experimental interface physics (TUM)
- Time-resolved electron diffraction and imaging (LMU)
- Imaging biomolecules and nano-assemblies (TUM)
- Radiotheraphy with laser-based photon and particle beams (TUM)
- Brilliant X-ray sources as diagnostic tool in medicine (LMU)
