The International Max Planck Research School on Advanced Photon Science (IMPRS-APS)
offers young researchers aiming for a PhD a unique combination of education and training
opportunities in the physics and technology of photon sources and their advanced application
in physics, chemistry and biology. We presently look for an additional 20 PhD students to
join the 18 students already active in the program. We aim to hire the best aspirants
worldwide for a period of three years. For further information, please visit our web-site at
http://www.mpq.mpg.de/APS
IMPRS-APS was established as a collaboration of the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU)
and Technische Universität München (TUM) in partnership with the Max Planck Institut für
Quantenoptik (MPQ) and in association with the Technische Universität Wien (TUW). The
members of IMPRS-APS pursue forefront research on advancing the light sources and to
employ them for gaining deeper insight into the microscopic structure and dynamics of
matter. APS is partner to the excellence cluster Munich-Centre for Advanced Photonics
(MAP - http://www.map.uni-muenchen.de).
We join our efforts to train outstanding and highly motivated PhD students in the inter-
disciplinary research areas of attosecond science, high field physics, laser based X-ray
optics, ultrafast chemical processes, laser cooling and trapping, and laser spectroscopy with
ultimate precision.
