medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Boy power: Peter of the Morrone (a.k.a. Pope Celestine V) had some
experiences as a child -- does standing in front of a crucifixion
scene, seeing Mary and St John leave the scene and come to the boy
and chant along with him from a book count as a mystical experience?
This is from the so-called 'Autobiography' -- an English translation
can be found in :
Thomas Head, ed., *Medieval Hagiography: An Anthology*, London and
New York, 2000, pp. 729–743.
Other unusual experiences (including some involving his mother) can
be found there.
Best wishes, George
