The School has the following opportunity to work on an AHRC-funded
project entitled 'The Early Modern Parish Church and the Religious
Landscape', under the directorship of Dr Andrew Spicer. This post will
involve travel and field work in France, on research into the diocese of Le
Mans, c. 1560-1661. The post is funded for three years to start on 1 June
2007.
You should have relevant linguistic skills, research experience in early
modern European history and/or religious history and ideally, have research
interests in the Reformation and/or architectural history. Experience in the
use of computer databases is also essential. The successful candidate will
become part of the History Department and will be on track to obtain strong
research and publications profiles.

diocese of Schleswig, 1528-1648. The post is funded for three years to start
on 1 June 2007.

**AHRC funded PhD Studentship*
A three year (full-time only) project studentship has been awarded in
conjunction with an interdisciplinary AHRC-funded project entitled 'The
Early Modern Parish Church and the Religious Landscape', under the
directorship of Dr Andrew Spicer, in collaboration with Dr Louise Durning
and Dr Margit Thøfner (University of East Anglia). The successful applicant
will undertake a case study into the diocese of Cambrai c. 1500-1678,
examining the impact of warfare as well as changing political and
ecclesiastical jurisdictions during this period on the fabric of the early
modern parish church and the religious landscape. This will be a part of
this wider project, to which the successful applicant will be expected to
contribute.

interdisciplinary team on this project and will be with the History
