There are ideas to link Biometric fingerprint scanning to Library and
Self Service Systems in the UK, as an alternative to cards & PIN
numbers. This has already been proven successful with HE libraries in
the US, and with many access control systems outside the sector. We're
also aware that some schools and FE colleges in the UK already employ
it.
Has any other HE institution introduced Biometric fingerprint scanning
in the UK? If so, is it used just in the Library, or wider, as part of
a full corporate system?
