Outstanding list of Nominations for Reference Awards 2006
ISG (CILIP) publish the list of nominations for the Printed and Electronic categories of the ISG (CILIP) / BookData Reference Awards 2006
The 2006 call for nominations has once again proved highly successful with a number of very high calibre entries. The awards will be judged by an expert panel of judges over the next few weeks and the shortlist will then be announced. The winners will be presented with their awards at a special ceremony on 18 April 2007 at the Library and Information Show.
The full submission lists are appended.
Administered by the Information Services Group of CILIP and sponsored by Nielsen BookData, the leading supplier of bibliographic information, the awards were open to works first published in the UK between 1 January 2006 and 31 December 2006.
Since 1970, the Reference Awards have recognised excellence, promoted awareness of outstanding reference books and products, encouraged quality and set industry standards.
The Besterman/McColvin Medals for outstanding works of reference published in the UK are awarded in two categories: print and electronic. Winners receive a cash prize of £500, certificate and a commemorative medal. Judges will assess the nominees on:
* authority of the work and the quality and kind of articles and entries

* scope and coverage
* style
* relevance and quality of the illustrations
* quality of indexing
* adequacy of the bibliographies and references
