Haha! Maybe we need a national ID card then because some people don't have
passports or driving licences. Maybe the ID card could have a chip in it
which you would put into the card reader in your car thereby providing a
means of catching those evading Road Tax and insurance and those banned from
driving. A citizen with nothing to hide could not possibly object to this.
There is no reason technically that the pay as you drive system in cars
should not work with the driver identification scheme to provide a
convenient satellite tracking scheme which would completely wipe out vehicle
theft at a stroke.
Of course because people are always forgetting their ID cards it would be
more convenient for most people to have their chip put in subcutaneously say
as an RFID chip. This would also be handy at the Tescos checkout because you
could just run your hand across the scanner instead of having to carry a
loyalty card. Good for counter terrorism as well if someone starts buying
large amounts of fertiliser at B&Q but lives at a post code where we know
they haven't got a garden!
I'm all for it, only a Luddite (or possibly a criminal) could possibly
object!
