Dear All,
This forthcoming meeting may be of interest.
Leicester's fossil celebrity: Charnia and the evolution of early life
University of Leicester, 10 March 2007
In 1957 Leicester schoolboy Roger Mason discovered the Precambrian
fossils of Charnwood Forest in Leicestershire. Trevor Ford described the
fossils as *Charnia masoni* and *Charniodiscus concentricus*, and the
rest is history!
Fifty years on the Charnwood fossil assemblage is still of major
international importance. This meeting will celebrate the past, but also
explore the latest research on the Ediacaran biota, and the significance
of the Charnwood assemblage, with speakers from Australia, Canada,
Ireland, and the UK.
