I suppose the two or three classical 'manifestoes' of post-theory
here are:
Noel Carroll: Mystifying Movies: Fads and Fallacies in Contemporary
Film Theory (1988)
David Bordwell: Making Meaning: Inference and Rhetoric in the
Interpretation of Cinema (1989)
David Bordwell & Noel Carroll (eds): Post-Theory: Reconstructing Film
Studies (1996)
Kristin Thompson (neoformalist film analysis, co-author ith Bordwell
of Film Art: An Introduction) also belongs in this 'camp', as does,
to my knowledge, Murray Smith (Engaging Characters, 1995).
Plus others, obviously.
