Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Computational Geomechanics
Applications are invited for the above post in the Nottingham Centre for
Geomechanics. The successful candidate will carry out research into
various aspects of computational geomechanics under the direction of
Professor Hai-Sui Yu.
Candidates should have a good honours degree and a postgraduate
qualification to Doctorate level in a relevant subject (e.g. engineering
or mathematics). Experience in plasticity theory, geomaterial modelling
and computational methods (such as finite element or/and discrete element
methods) is also required. Specific areas of research interest might
include: advanced constitutive modelling; computational limit and/or
shakedown analysis; soil-structure interaction; multi-scale geotechnical
modelling. It is essential that candidates should be able to work on
their own initiative as well as working within a team.
Salary will be within the range £24,402 - £30,913 per annum, depending on
qualifications and experience (salary can progress to £34,793 per annum,
subject to performance). This post is available from 1 April 2007 or as
soon as possible thereafter and will be offered on a fixed-term contract
for a period of five years.
