Apols - did someone already suggest Ricability and the recently launched www.ricability-digitaltv.org.uk site? Might be useful contacts.
Also seem to remember reading somewhere that RNIB have secured a deal that ensures that all VI people will have access to an appropriately accessible digibox by switch-over. Could be useful to find out how this was secured. The person who would know more at RNIB is Jill Whitehead (head of broadcasting... Or similar) [log in to unmask]

Subject: heads up from the US
Dear all
From the RESNA listserv (US correspondent):
"It looks like the new breed of satellite boxes that are coming with DVR capability are using an RF remote control, rather than an IR. I have now run into two different clients that this has been the case. Is anyone aware of any assistive technology (or mainstream stuff) that can
capture these RF signals? I am foreseeing big satellite surfing
problems in the near future. For reference, both clients are using a Dish Network. Let me know your thoughts aside from the clients eliminating the DVR portion or changing providers."
Anybody have inside information?
