I think there are three issues.
1 When people set off to buy their digital TV/box they may not be aware
that they cannot get full access using their current ECS. So do we
re-assess & provide with consequent delays & cost?
2 Can we justifiably limit client's viewing to a few selected channels?
3 Will we be deluged with requests for upgrades?
Keren - perhaps it would be worth Ricability being aware. Do you have a
contact?
Or do others think it's not a problem?

Barry,
I understand Compact is soon no longer going to be supplied and of
course
Fox too. Still leaves existing units and Prog etc.
I think this very much relates to the number of functions needed, e.g.
using
favourites menu, or specific channels is relatively straight forward,
but a
full complement of functions would be tedious on a Fox. Would I surmise
less
cognitively able would want less functions anyway.

Subject: tv analogue switch-off
Dear All
Wondering about the effect of analogue switch-off on EAT systems, after
noticing that Border is due to go next year, with Granada, Wales &
Westcountry in 2009. Yorkshire is reprieved till 2011.
Do people think that an ECS controller without a screen (Fox, Compact,
Freeway, Prog?) can be useably set up to control digital TV? Do we need
publicity? - BBC have the task of convincing the elderly of the need.
