Leeds/Bradford: Wednesday 21 February, 3.30pm-5.30pm, Quarry House (Department of Health)
What does being a statistician mean to you?
A discussion chaired by Andy Sutherland (Information Centre for health and social care).
The purpose of the meeting is to share and develop an understanding of the following questions.
1. What is the essence of being a statistician?
2. What is the definition of a statistician?
3. What are the benefits of being a statistician?
4. Where is statistics going?
5. Does it matter?
Panelists involved with different types of statistical work (including academic and government
statisticians) will give their views, followed by an open debate.
The meeting will be held at the Department of Health’s Quarry House starting at 4pm with
refreshments from 3.30pm.
In accordance with security procedures at Quarry House, those attending must pre-register. If you
plan to attend, please email Paul Baxter by 5pm on Monday 19th February. On arrival at Quarry House
please go to West Reception and ask for the Royal Statistical Society meeting, you will be collected
from there.
