The award (Dorothy Hodgkin Postgraduate Award) is provided by BBSRC
and GlaxoSmithKline and is available for a research project in the
area of Statistical Bioinformatics (supervised jointly by Prof K V Mardia
and Prof W R Gilks). The start date is August 1st, 2007, and the award
lasts for 3.5 years.
The eligible countries for students are from India, China, Hong Kong,
Russia and the developing world.

The main criteria for student selection is excellence and students are
expected to hold the equivalent of a UK first class honours degree from
a prestigious institution (a lower-rated BSc with a Masters is not
deemed to be equivalent).
The DHPA Awards provide students with a fully funded Scholarships and
covers international fees, maintenance and a Research Training Support
Grant. The Scholarships Office are responsible for the administration
of the scheme and payment of the award (the funds are received from the
Research Councils in the same format as a Doctoral Training Grant but
managed centrally).
