Lynne,
G'day from Redruth! The crucible works begun by James Juleff and Sons were
offered for sale by tender in 1880 after being in operation for about 100
years. The works were situated near Pedn an Drea Mine (SW 70288 41984) and
are marked on the 1880 OS map, but had been modified by the 1907 edition.
I'm not sure when the place closed, probably between 1880 and 1907; the buildings
have since been demolished. Kelly's Directory entry for 1873 reads 'John
Juleff Cornish Plumbago Crucible maker for Tin assaying and Richard Juleff
Brickmakers'.
