The School of Dentistry at the University of Liverpool are offering a PhD Studentship for a social science graduate to study in the Department of Dental Public Health. The studentship is for three years, supervised by Dr Angela Ashcroft and Dr Jude Robinson.
The studentship will focus on understanding current parenting practices in establishing hygiene and toothbrushing routines in young children and identify the barriers which prevent these behaviours taking place. A parenting intervention based on this work will be developed. The studentship will run parallel to a postgraduate research post developing this work for international collaborators.
The funding provided by the Department includes payment of University fees and stipend for the three year duration of the project. The stipend is currently set at the level of £12,300 per year (tax free). Applicants must be UK nationals. The successful applicant is expected to conduct independent research leading to original contributions to the project culminating in a PhD thesis.
Essential knowledge, skills and experience:
* Background in social science with an understanding of community based research
* A first or upper second class BSc and preferably Masters degree in an appropriate discipline;
* Good communication skills;
* The ability to work within a team, collaboratively.
A Full Enclosed CRB check is required.
