Hi,
I would like to add that we have had problems using AOL and a lot of
systems here at Christ Church University including Blackboard. One
thing I would like to add is that when advising students here on use of
AOL and blackboard we always advise that they keep AOL open but keep it
minimised as I believe if you close the AOL program it will disconnect
the user from the net.

Thanks to all who responded. Within the last few days we have received
queries from AOL users, and I just wanted to check that no new problems
had been identified.

Hi
This is the response that I received from Blackboard Support when I
contacted them about this issue:
Thank you for contacting Blackboard Client Support in regards to the
issues AOL users are reporting at your institution. These issues are
well known and have been reported from other institutions in the past.
The problem is not really a Bb problem, as much as it is an AOL browser
issue. Blackboard doesn't work well with AOL and it has been recommended
that even if users are using AOL that they launch either IE or Netscape,
or Firefox outside the AOL browser to use Blackboard and not to use Bb
within the AOL browser. AOL uses a proxy server that doesn't work well
together with Blackboard. I recommend that although users can use AOL,
they should use it for their connection only and launch a support
browser.

Dear All
Is there a general consensus as to what we should advise AOL users who
are experiencing difficulties logging into Blackboard?
Any help would be appreciated
