1. THE SECOND SUBJECT CENTRE E-LEARNING SYMPOSIUM
1 and 2 February 2007
University of Southampton
COST: the symposium is free of charge. The conference dinner and day 2 are funded by JISC.
KEYNOTE SPEAKERS: Professor Grainne Conole, the Open University and Professor Charles Alderson, University of Lancaster
THEMES COVERED ON DAY ONE: How students actually use technology; virtual worlds for language learning; social software; disciplinary differences; digital classrooms; mobile learning; the future of online feedback and assessment
THEMES FOR DAY TWO: Finding, sharing and re-using online resources; personalising learning using a wiki-type tool.
This conference will be of interest to all those wanting to hear about the latest research and developments in e-learning. There will be plenty of opportunity for hands-on experience and for exchanging ideas. Participants may attend one or both days

2. MFL DISTANCE LEARNING PARTNERSHIP CONFERENCE
25 January 2007
University of Wales Aberystwyth
This event will provide the opportunity to hear a progress report on the MFL Distance Learning Project coordinated by the Open University in Wales. There will also be presentations on language study materials developed at the University of Glamorgan, and the University of Wales, Lampeter.
The day will also include a round table discussion of distance learning issues and the exploration of a possible bid to HEFCWs Strategic Development fund.
