Hi everyone, I have to admit I have felt like a bit of an Antipodian reading
the posts about Australian literary politics. Back in the Day, I used to
make similar observations about the American New Formalists, including &
especially Dana Gioia, who has now become Minister of Arts in the Bush
administration. And there never was a better commissar. You should see him
kissing the ladies' cheeks at conferences.
But that's not why I'm posting. Just wanted to say that both Anny & I have
been running pretty much flat-out in our non-list lives & that's the reason
for our only-occasional participation on the list since rising to our
positions of ultimate & unparalleled power. We have been discussing a few
very modest plans, however. And as a step toward getting organized, you caqn
expect, in the next week or so, -- wait for it! -- a revised statement of
list policies. Alas for controversialists, it will mostly be an updated
restatement of current practices.
One thing we'd like to do, though, is begin compiling a list of members'
websites &/or weblogs, Eventually, I would hope to work this up into
periodically updated page. A link to such a page would be easy to include (I
think) as part of the header or footer of every post to the list. So: if you
have a website or weblog, please email me at [log in to unmask] I will
compile a list & then figure out the best way to get it into a shape
everyone can use. After this first phase of collecting members' pages, we
might want to begin compiling a list of on-line resources that members find
useful, but let's let that wait until phase two. For now, send your blog or
webpage url to [log in to unmask] Please put "member page" in the title.
