The request is for 'best software' for interior design.
Whilst not an interior designer - we do interact with them professionally
from time to time.
The following will cover most things and help the students get a job after
the course.
Adobe Creative Suite CS2 www.adobe.com
Autodesk AutoCAD (that choice depends on practice) www.autodesk.com
Autodesk VIZ
http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/index?siteID=123112&id=4221521
auto.des.sys FormZ www.formz.com
The new kid on the block is Sketch Up - great for just trying stuff out
.... http://www.sketchup.com/
Also there are some very advanced visualization techniques embedded within
the new 'rendering' packages - it is possible to take photo realism to
very high levels.
We use Vray.... http://www.vray.info/
Brazil is extremely good too .... http://www.splutterfish.com/
check this kind of image out:
http://www.splutterfish.com/sf/gallery_view.php?photo_id=825&screen=1&cat_id=2&action=images
so is the Mental Ray renderer.... http://www.mentalimages.com/
If cost is an issue then it is possible to run a course with freeware.
http://pdelagrange.free.fr/povlab/
and blender (which might require Linux - not sure)
http://www.blender.org/cms/Gallery.55.0.html
The software I mention at top is mostly industry standard, with imagery
capable of producing very high quality for portfolios.
Love or hate it - there is still a lot of AutoCAD out there in industry.
Hope this helps. Glenn Johnson
