Hi all
I work for a drinks supplier and at the factory we do bottling, canning and
kegging. Our managers have said that from a hygiene point of view they are
aiming to achieve food factory standard. On the back of this they have
just introduced the wearing of baseball caps and I have been told that this
is industry standard. (They haven't introduced anything to cover beards!)
I have real concerns about this being considered to be suitable from a
hygiene point of view. There is no instruction on when the hats should be
laundered (if indeed they can be) or replaced. They also dont cover all
the hair for some of our employees who have long hair.
I would be grateful for feedback on what is 'industry standard' for food
factories and in particular if any of you work in the drinks industry would
you be willing to share what happens at your place of work.
thanks
Jacqui Waddell
