Hello Ann,
I'm far from being an expert on de Voragine, but I believe that many of the later
versions and publications you are mention are not simply verbatim repetitions of his
original text, but that some of them are quite thoroughly "updated" and/or
"supplemented". Undoubtedly those more learned than I on the list can give a more
accurate opinion on this matter (if it is of interest to you!).
