ELEMENTARY STATISTICS
14 February 2007, London
Managing library and information services effectively now demands the ability to gather and understand statistics. This highly practical course will give participants the opportunity to learn about and practice the working techniques involved in using statistics to figure out what is going on in their service.
BENEFITS OF ATTENDING
The day will support those who have to deal with numbers or statistics but doubt their mathematical ability to cope. It will enable participants to start converting numbers into meaning and to become familiar with some basic techniques, using a series of practical examples to highlight this.
BY THE END OF THE EVENT PARTICIPANTS WILL HAVE:
· examined basic methods for analysing data
· gained an understanding of elementary quantitative techniques
· considered the use of data in management of services
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
Those who have to deal with numbers or statistics in the course of their work, but who are not confident about their mathematical abilities.
COURSE LEADER: KEITH TRICKEY
Keith is a part time Senior Lecturer at Liverpool John Moores University and freelance trainer. Keith regards all learning/training situations as opportunities to play with and explore ideas and techniques.
FEEDBACK FROM PREVIOUS ATTENDEES:
