What is the policy and practice at other insitutions regarding return
postage costs for items which have been sent out to users?
We currently post items free of charge to students on designated
'distance learning' courses, but the students are liable for the return
postage costs. We are increasingly receiving enquiries and complaints
regarding the cost of sending back postal loans and are investigating
what options might be feasible.
Do other libraries offer a free returns service? Reimburse users?
Make a charge for postal loans? Any suggestions and examples of current
practice are welcome, and I will summarise responses for the list.
