I've sort of given up beating this dead horse. This month there was a
posting to the ISEE list serve about pets (companion animals whatever that
means) being given legal 'rights' is some state. I just shake my head
anymore. No wonder we have not been able to convince George the W that
global warming is a problem when we, we being 'environmentalists,' get tied
up in trivia such as this.
I've spent the past couple of years in Central America and I can assure you
that 'rights' for animals is an irrational idea to these people. Here humans
hardly have 'rights,' legal or otherwise. They see Americans and Europeans
giving better medical care to their pets than most here can afford for their
children. It is an amazing thing.
