Dear all,
I’m interested in gauging how much interest there might be in a possible
training session on Writing for the Web in museums and archives. At The
British Postal Museum & Archive we operate a Content Management System for
our website where all staff can contribute to web content, so training of
this sort is really important.
We also want to learn more about writing for disabled access. For example,
should we be writing long and descriptive alt text, or captions, or
something else? We don’t know…
Would anyone on the list be interested in attending a one-day training
course specifically geared towards museums and archives, with half a day
on ‘basic’ writing for the web, and half a day on web writing for disabled
access?
If anyone knows of possible training providers who are not too expensive,
please let us know, although we have a couple of ideas. Of course, sharing
the cost makes it much more affordable. The BPMA should be able to provide
a venue, although this would not allow for everyone to have a computer -
unless laptops were brought by delegates.
Replies would be appreciated on- or off-list.

Many thanks
Rhiannon
