No, section 29 is there to allow you to assist the Police, if you are 
persuaded that it's necessary and proportionate to do so. A section 
29(3) form *isn't* an order to disclose the information; it's a 
protection for you if you choose to disclose the information in breach 
of your normal DPA obligations.

A RIPA s22 notice *is* an order to disclose (only) traffic data from a 
communications network. If you get one of those then the law requires 
you to comply, if you get a DPA s29(3) notice then the law doesn't even 
require you to think about it.

Lots of confusion around this :-(
