POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH ASSOCIATE
DEPARTMENT OF PROBABILITY & STATISTICS
UNIVERSITY OF SHEFFIELD
Applications are invited for the post of Postdoctoral Research Associate, to
work on an exciting and innovative £2 million research project
MANAGING UNCERTAINTY IN COMPLEX MODELS
The MUCM project (http://mucm.group.shef.ac.uk), funded by Research
Councils UK, is a collaboration between five universities: Sheffield, Aston,
Southampton, Durham, and the London School of Economics. It is
concerned with quantifying and reducing uncertainty in the predictions of
complex models across a wide range of application areas, including basic
science, environmental science, engineering, technology, biosciences, and
economics. MUCM is multi-disciplinary, and the unifying theme is a
Bayesian statistical approach to inference.
The position is available to candidates of any nationality, to start on 1 April
2007 (or at an agreed later date) and ending on 31 May 2010. Applicants
should have (or expect to have) a PhD in Statistics or a comparable
qualification. Candidates must also have good communication and
computing skills and be willing to work in a multidisciplinary team. We wish
to recruit a researcher of high ability and promise, and can offer a very
competitive salary.
Further particulars and the application details may be found at
http://www.shef.ac.uk/jobs/research.html. Informal enquiries may be made
to Dr Jeremy Oakley ([log in to unmask]). The closing date for
applications is 25 January 2007.
