Dear all,
Like many of you, I am currently reviewing our existing family friendly
provision in light of the requirements of the Work & Families Act, etc. etc.
As part of this review, I am interested in finding out what provision your
HEI currently offers and wonder if you would mind answering a few questions.
You're welcome to reply either on or off line - the choice is yours. Happy
to share anonymised responses, of course!
1. Do you currently offer paid time off to deal with emergencies
involving dependents?
If so, how much time do you allow per year?
2. Do you currently offer paid paternity leave at more than the statutory
minimum?
If so, what payment do you offer?
3. Is your length of service requirement for people requesting flexible
working less than 26 weeks?
4. Do you offer more than 5 days paid time off for bereavement?
If so, how much time do you normally allow?
If you answered "yes" to any of the above, please let me know a) if you
think the additional costs have been outweighed by the benefits - e.g., in
staff morale, retention, etc. - and b) whether you are planning to retain
this provision after April 2007.
Best wishes for the New Year!
Faith
