Hi - I have been involved in teaching ebm to medical students for about 15
years and with a number of colleagues have developed a pictorial approach
called GATE to make it more accessible for them (and others). We teach the
students how to do CATs (critically appraised topics) which involve going
through the 5 steps of EBM. After a series of lectures at the beginning of
their first clinical year, the students have do complete a CAT in each of
their clinical attachments during the year.
The CATs have been standardised in excel and can be downloaded from the web.
You can find a paper outlining GATE plus a range of CATs and model answers
on www.epiq.co.nz
Cheers
