Looks like the showWarning dialog is modal (it's not one of ours, it's one
of the canned Tk dialogs we use, so it didn't get a red border by default
although perhaps we should add that if it's possible). Not sure why that
would block console i/o per se but the autosave is called from inside the
Tk event loop so maybe that is it. I would have hoped that dismissing the
dialog without the ctrl-C would have done the trick. But in this case the
ctrl-C should have been harmless.
