Dear all,
I am following the suggestion in the introductory email to email out my
interests in forced migration. I am currently half way through my PhD
research at the University of Melbourne, Australia under the primary
supervision of Derek McDougall and associate supervision of Ralph Pettman.
My main research area is on forced migration in Southeast Asia. I evaluate
the what levels of provision and protection states offer forced migrants and
have spent some time on the Thai-Burma border. Early-Mid 2007 I plan to
spend conducting fieldwork in the region. Outside of my main research I am
involved with Researchers for Asylum Seekers (RAS) at the University of
Melbourne; tutor at Fitzroy Learning Network (FLN): an organisation helping
newly arrived people with education; and am involved with the Australia
Karen Foundation (AKF). I have recently joined the editorial team at the
Melbourne Journal of Politics (MJP). The journal will be putting out a call
for papers soon and the team encourages articles from all areas of political
science and related disciplines. However, we continue to accept journal
articles, book reviews on an ongoing basis. For more information on the
journal please visit http://www.politics.unimelb.edu.au/aboutus/mjp.html
I look forward to being part of the forced migration discussion e-list.
Kind regards,
Alistair.
