Understanding and responding to digital and social exclusion
A two day workshop 11 and 12 December 2006
at Room H216, Connaught House, LSE
This two day workshop will explore both: how we can understand the
effects that non-use of ICTs has on people's lives and opportunities;
and the experience of education providers in developing new initiatives
to meet these needs.
The workshop will be interactive and attendees will be expected to
participate in discussion of the issues raised, not just listen to
presentations. The sessions will start with presentations and plenary
discussion. There will be opportunity for small group exploration of the
issues raised. The workshop will end with plenary panel on shaping
future research and practice agendas.
The workshop will be of interest to:
* Academic researchers in a number of fields including: ICT use
and non-use; ICT education and training; and social exclusion
* Further and community education managers and teachers in the
fields of ICT and basic education
* Policy makers in the areas of ICT education and access
There is no charge for the workshop but places are limited to ensure
maximum participation in the discussion. Lunch is provided. To apply for
a place contact [log in to unmask]
This workshop is organised by the Penceil Project (How People Encounter
E-Illiteracy and how they can Take Action to Overcome it) a joint
