MEETING WEBCASTS
http://www.ras.org.uk/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=926&Itemid=127
In a continuing trial, all RAS Specialist Discussion Meetings held in
the Geological Society Lecture Theatre in the 2006/2007 season will be
made available as on-demand webcasts (with video footage and digital
presentations) and vodcasts (video only), within a week or so of each
meeting.
October's meeting, "THE FUTURE OF COMPUTATIONAL AND THEORETICAL
ASTROPHYSICS IN THE UK" is now available (as are trial webcasts for
meetings on "The Life and Death of Star Clusters" and "Titan Revealed
- Latest findings from Cassini/Huygens measurements", from the 2005/6
season).
Access requires a very simple registration process; this is
solely for monitoring purposes (we want to know how many people
are viewing the webcasts), and will not lead to any unwanted emails
etc.
Comments on the webcasts are welcome, and should be sent to Ron
Wiltshire ([log in to unmask]).

BURLINGTON HOUSE REMINDER
A reminder that the Society's Burlington House apartments are now
closed until the end of 2007, to allow major refurbishment works to
take place. The office has moved to Hallam Court [77 Hallam, Street,
London W1N 6BR], as have some library services (which are, however,
severely restricted).
Post (which will be redirected) should continue to be sent to
Burlington House. Telephone, fax and email addresses are unchanged.

RAS COUNCIL NOMINATIONS
Papers will shortly be distributed to all Fellows, seeking (among
other things) nominations for RAS Council. We are always keen to see
a balanced reflection of the Fellowship's interests on Council, so
please give serious consideration to standing yourself, or to applying
gentle pressure to colleagues, if appropriate.
