I for one am sick and trying to study Anatomy at the same time.
Nevertheless, I went out to vote here in ToonTown. There is only
Senatorial interest. A gentleman named Thomas Kean, Jr., son of a
recent Governor and former President of Drew University, is running
against a gentleman named Robert Menendez, a Democrat and (therefore)
Hudson County (Jersey City) boy, but we haven't yet figured out whose.
He was appointed to fill the unfinished Senate term of Gov. Jon Corzine
so we can take votes on the insignia on his kneepads just from that. I
don't vote based on facts because there aren't any. I vote on the basis
of accusation. That is, if an accusation is sufficiently obscene, I
vote for the person being defamed. This keeps my vote gender- and
race-neutral. Kean has portrayed Menendez in TV spots as a cross
between Vito Corleone and Tony Soprano, i.e., he's part of the Hudson
County political Mafia. He has suborned (his name was not on the
commercials) a radio spot suggesting that Menendez is an abortionist who
would Federally fund and continue to support partial birth abortions,
and supports a woman's right (see that word??) to abort even if she
doesn't like the sex of the child-to-be. Menendez himself seems like an
affable sort of middle-aged guy. Maybe he's not. I doubt it. This is
New Jersey, where the State logo is a pair of hands dripping grease
surmounted by the Latin motto "Ubi Meum?"
Every first Tuesday in November since 1976, I ask myself "I left
Binghamton, NY for THIS?"
