Gunvor Larsson
You need to speak with Adrian Whyatt, Co Chair of DANDA and Larry Arnold who
are both members of this forum. They will give you more information you need
on the 'Difference-Model'.
Adrain is doing a talk next week at the Professional DANDA Conference on
'Indvidual Controlled Environments' (ICE) for ND's which Adrian and I have
been trying to develop these ideas.
My area of research is around ND's/ASD's and Mental Health and how the
impacts of the 'built environment' and other environments impacts on
ND's/ASD's and those experiening mental ill health/distress.
This 'fits-in' with the 'social-model' which Larry and I have different
viewpoints on this and I believe that the 'social-model' is flexible enough
to endorse the 'difference-model' and recoginise the environment has a
negative impact on those living and experiencing ND's/ASD's/Mental ill
health/distress in meeting their 'inclusive and independent living' needs.
This is where ICE comes-in!!!
Get back to me if you require anymore information.
Yours
